This year we’re changing our annual Pink Week to be like other ZTA chapter’s around the country. From October 14th to October 21st Pink Week will be presenting the Big Man on Ground’s competition. This competition supports our philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education as well as the UVA Breast Care Center
How it Works!
Fraternities/Sororities/Clubs/Organizations will team up with each other to form co-ed teams (Fraternities with Sororitys, Girl Acapella groups with Boy Acapella groups, etc.). These teams will then nominate one guy to compete to be the “Big Man on Grounds”. Similarly to how Pink Week used to be run, there will be events throughout the week where teams will get points for attending the events and fundraising (i.e carnival, big man photoshoot, dine out, raffles). The final event will be on Friday the 20th. This event is a “triathlon” which involves the “Big Man” from each group and selected team members to compete in three mini competitions. After this, the “Big Man” will be announced!
How to Win!
Team with most points wins a catered tailgate for the Pink Out game on October 21st and the “Big Man” wins his own gift-card prize and the bragging rights of being the all-around “Big Man” on grounds!
Other information:
FREE to sign up! Must sign up before October 1st to be considered.
Each team will be given a “manual” for the week that breaks down each day’s event and highlights pertinent information for the week!
Contact Natalie Volpicelli Pink Week Director at ztapinkweek@gmail.com or nfv4sf@virginia.edu to sign up or with any questions.
We hope that you all will choose to participate in our new Pink Week this year in order to continue the fight for the day in which we don’t have to worry about breast cancer and pink is just a color!
Today, 1 in 8 women, and the community that surrounds them, are faced with the arduous fight against breast cancer. The women in our lives: our mothers, daughters, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, and friends continue to be at risk of breast cancer every day and often die from cases that could have been prevented, had they been caught earlier. Better yet, with the right research, imagine a world where a cure for breast cancer makes these cases obsolete.
At University of Virginia, the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha are committed to providing the women of our community with all of the tools, information, and support they need to “tackle breast cancer.” Each year, for one week in October, we come together to raise awareness for breast cancer through events that fundraise for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education and the University Breast Cancer Center and help educate the community about common warning signs and action plans.
